RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Daniel J. Edelman has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 92; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Daniel J. Edelman was the loving and devoted husband of Ruth Ann Rozumoff; and

WHEREAS, Daniel J. Edelman was the much-adored father of Richard, Renee and John to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, A proud veteran of World War II, Daniel J. Edelman began his long and storied career as a publicist with Musicraft Records where he pioneered bold and effective cross-marketing strategies.; and

WHEREAS, Born in New York City, Daniel J. Edelman arrived in Chicago in 1947 as the ad manager for the home hair care manufacturer Toni Co. and set the stage for a new era in public relations by creating the first modern publicity tour: "Which Twin Had the Toni?"; and

WHEREAS, In 1952, Daniel J. Edelman founded his own Chicago-based public relations firm which quickly gained a reputation for creative ad campaigns that set a high bar for excellence in the industry; and

WHEREAS, By 2010, Edelman Public Relations Worldwide had became the world's largest company of its kind; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Daniel J. Edelman serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Daniel J. Edelman to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Daniel J. Edelman imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOL VED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of February, 2013, do hereby commemorate Daniel J. Edelman for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
