RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-four; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., was the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Julia, nee Fitzgerald; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired member of the Sinsinawa Dominican congregation for sixty-three years, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., was a respected writer, lecturer, leader, and teacher; and
WHEREAS, The tireless work and ministry of Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., led to greater awareness of women in the Church and society; and
WHEREAS, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., taught elementary school for seven years and served in various higher education positions for twenty-eight years, the majority of which were with Rosary College/Dominican University in River Forest; and
WHEREAS, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., was elected to two terms as Prioress of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation.; and
WHEREAS, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., co-founded and served as the first Board President for Mary's Pence, an organization providing funds to grassroots women's projects; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of March, 2014, do hereby commemorate Sister Kathleen "Kaye" Ashe, O.P., for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
