MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Marie E. Lehan, on October 18, 2013, at the age of eighty-three; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on January 12, 1929, Marie was the loving wife of the late Orville Brittingham; loving daughter of the late William and Mary K., nee McGowan; dear sister of the late Betty Jean Lehan; dear step-mother of Terry (Cheryl) and Glen (Cheryl) Brittingham; beloved step-grandmother of seven; great-grandmother of five; and, special cousin of the McGowan and O'Brien clans and loving second sister of Ann (John) Burgess; and
WHEREAS, As a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, second-sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and member of Saint Anne Sodality, Marie leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Marie will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirteenth day of November 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Marie E. Lehan and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marie E. Lehan as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
