Ladies and Gentlemen:

I transmit herewith, together with Aldermen Burke and Zalewski, a congratulatory resolution regarding Officer John Travaglini on the occasion of his retirement.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, With a twinge of regret, for we will sorely miss him, the Members of this Chamber are pleased to congratulate veteran Chicago Police Officer John Travaglini (Star #4971) on the occasion of his retirement from the Chicago Police Department; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this celebratory occasion by The Honorable Michael R. Zalewski, Alderman ofthe 23rd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Officer Travaglini began his career in law enforcement in 1980 as an intern. After receiving training in psychiatric corrections, Officer Travaglini worked in the field of youth corrections, where he balanced his compassion for others with professionalism, to help incarcerated youths as they prepared to re-enter society; and
WHEREAS, Officer Travaglini joined the Chicago Police Department in 1992. He served for two years as a recruit and probationary police officer in the 7th Police District in Englewood; for three years at Altgeld Gardens in the 5th Police District on the Far South Side; for three years in the 8th Police District in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, where he was assigned to street duty, death investigations, lock-up duty and desk duty; and for four years in the security unit at Police Headquarters, where he served as a team leader in the Office ofthe First Deputy, Operations Command; and
WHEREAS, For the past eleven years, Officer Travaglini was assigned to the Mayor's Office and City Council, where he provided security and dignitary protection to our City's elected officials, and where he earned the respect of this great ...
