A TRIBUTE TO JIM GRIGAR
WHEREAS, Jim Grigar had been a pillar of the Independence Park community since he and his family moved there in 1970; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of Jim Grigar's unfortunate passing by the Honorable Alderman John Arena of the 45th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Jim Grigar was a talented and passionate photographer, the proud owner of his own photography business, and taught photography at the College of DuPage; and
WHEREAS, Jim Grigar built a full and extraordinary life in Chicago, where he and his wife, Mary, were active in the Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association, where he laid out the newsletter for several years, and the Independence Park Advisory Council, where he cooked the annual Spaghetti Dinner and organized the first 4th of July parade; and
WHEREAS, Jim Grigar was tragically preceded in death by his beautiful son Mark at the age of seven and is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children David, Ann-Marie, Mary Elizabeth, Julie, and James Jr.; and eight grandchildren; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered this 13h day of January, 2016 AD, do hereby pause to pay tribute to the achievements of Jim Grigar and mourn his loss;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Jim Grigar.
