RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Joseph N. DuCanto has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Joseph N. DuCanto was the beloved husband of Patricia; and
 
WHEREAS, Joseph N. DuCanto was the much-adored father of Anthony and James DuCanto and Bill Heiman and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, A proud Marine and veteran of World War II, Joseph N. DuCanto received his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School; and
 
WHEREAS, A masterful matrimonial lawyer and law school instructor, Joseph N. DuCanto helped shape legislation that simplified divorce settlements; and
 
WHEREAS, Held in the highest esteem by his peers, Joseph N. DuCanto offered his grateful clients expert advice and representation; and
 
WHEREAS, A former President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Joseph N. DuCanto was a mentor to many with whom he shared his wisdom and vast knowledge of the law; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Joseph N. DuCanto serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Joseph N. DuCanto to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Joseph N. DuCanto imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2013, do hereby commemorate Joseph N. DuCanto for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph N. DuCanto.
