MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Mary Slingerland, on June 10, 2013, at the age of 93; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mary, a resident of the Albany Park/North Park Community for at least forty years was predeceased by all of her relatives, however she did have many dear friends and acquaintances. Mary leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, As a conservationist, Mary dedicated herself to the preservation of trees and nature; and
WHEREAS, Mary had moved to the Fairmont Care Center on North Pulaski Road, from her home on Carmen Avenue, where she was thought of as a wonderful neighbor; and
WHEREAS, Mary will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-fourth day of July 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Mary Slingerland and express to her extended family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the extended family and friends of Mary Slingerland as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
