MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called Lavon D. Woods, outstanding citizen and beloved friend, to his eternal reward Saturday July 18, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Born September 11, 1991 Lavon was the loving son of the late Sabrina Woods and Lemont Johnson. He received his education from the Arthur A. Libby Elementary School and Hubbard High School; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Toni L. Foulkes, Alderman of the 16th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Lavon D. Woods accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a member at Calvary Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Although football was one of Lavon's favorite pastimes he also enjoyed repairing and rebuilding bicycles. He loved spending quality time with his son, and babysitting for his nieces, nephews and cousins. Lavon's smile always brought a smile to everyone he knew; and
WHEREAS, A cherished friend and a good neighbor, Lavon D. Woods had enriched the lives of the young and the old. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and .
WHEREAS, His mother, Sabrina Woods and grandfather, Isaac Woods, Sr. proceeded him in death. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his son, Lamar Lofton; father, Lemont Johnson; sisters, Tearia Woods, Tenisha Woods and Shantell Johnson; brothers, Lemont Woods and Steven Turner; nephews, Jaden, Jahari and Marlon; niece, Sabrina; grandmother, Charlotte Woods; godmother, Debra Turner; his best friends, Durrell Foster and Antwon Taylor and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 24th day of September 2015 A.D., do hereby express our sincere sorrow on the passing of Lavon D. Woods and extend our condolences to his family and friends.
