RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF THEOPHILUS MOORE, JR.
WHEREAS, Theophilus Moore, Jr. served our country in two military conflicts, first in World War II and then again in the Korean War; and
WHEREAS, he achieved the rank of Honorary Major upon his honorable discharge on October 31, 1959; and
WHEREAS, he served with distinction, earning a Good Conduct Medal, a Parachutist Badge and two Bronze Stars, one in the World War II Campaign in Northern France, the other in the Rhineland Campaign; and
WHEREAS, following his military service, he worked with the United States Postal Service for 36 years until he retired in 1995; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Moore is also a proud member of the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons and Order ofthe Eastern Star, serving as a 33rd Degree Mason and a former Grand Master of the State of I llinois; and
WHEREAS, as of October 15, 2014 Theophilus Moore, Jr. has had the strength and courage to live with honor and dignity for 90 years, serving his country, his community and his fellow man, THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members ofthe Chicago City Council assemble this 5th day of November 2014, do hereby express our gratitude to Mr. Theophilus Moore, Jr. for his distinguished service to our country and wish him a happy belated 90th birthday; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Mr. Moore and his family.
