RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Boyd K. Packer has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Boyd K. Packer was a prominent religious leader and the loving husband for more than 70 years of Donna; and
WHEREAS, Boyd K. Packer was the much-adored father of ten children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Boyd K. Packer was the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 10, 1924 in Brigham City, Utah, Boyd K. Packer enlisted in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and was assigned after graduating as a pilot to bomber training; and
WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge from the military, Boyd K. Packer attended Utah State University and earned a master's degree in educational administration from Brigham Young University; and
WHEREAS, Boyd K. Packer held administrative posts in his church's educational system and joined the Quorum in 1970 which is the faith's highest governing body; and
WHEREAS, From 1979 to 1981 Boyd K. Packer served on the committee that oversaw the publication of the church's new editions of its scriptures; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his role as a church leader, Boyd K. Packer was a talented artist who especially enjoyed painting birds; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Boyd K. Packer serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Boyd K. Packer was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Boyd K. Packer imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
