RESOLUTION
WHEREAS. Reverend Akin Man Cheong Kwok. a widely admired member of the religious communiiy. has announced his retirement as the Pastor ofthe Chinese Christian Union Church South: and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Patrick D. Thompson: and
WHEREAS, Reverend Alan Man Cheong Kwok was hired by Chinese Christian Union Church as the pastor of one of its site Chinese Christian Union Church South located at 3000 South Wallace, Chicago. Illinois 60616; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Alan Man Cheong Kwok, together with his wife Mrs. Esther Kwok, son Daniel Kwok, daughter Lydia Kwok, immigrated to Chicago and started ministering to the Bridgeport Chinese community on the twenty-sixth of June 1995; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Alan Man Cheong has been faithfully serving the Bridgeport community for the past 25 years and has blessed the community through church programs like fellowship programs for elderly, couples, young professionals, local college, high schoolers, and junior high kids; and
WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the church had collaborated with different entities like Kennedy King College, Pui Tak Center, the University of Chicago to offer new immigrants ESL classes and medical clinics lo the poor; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Alan Man Cheong has personally consulted and mentored church members that were struggling in different areas of their lives and set a good example of how him and his family had faithfully served in ministry to inspire others to serve; and
WHEREAS, He officiated numerous weddings and funerals to walk alongside the highs and lows ofthe community; and
WHEREAS, On the thirty-first day of May 2020, Reverend Alan Man Cheong will officially retire from the pastoral position of Chinese Christian Union Church South, and
WHEREAS, As a body of Christ, we were honored and blessed to have him as the pastor for our church and for the Bridgeport community for the past 25 years!; now, ...
