City Council January 15th, 2020
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Edward R. McLaughlin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 81 to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Edward R. McLaughlin, preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris McLaughlin and several siblings; survived by two daughters, Lisa (Edward) Vaughn, of Naperville, IL, and Julia Ferrelli, of California; two grandchildren, Nolan and Olivia Vaughn; one brother, Bernard (Mary Ellen) McLaughlin; and several friends; and
WHEREAS, Edward was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, attended De La Salle High School, and proudly sang in the choir at St. Gabriel Church; Born and raised in the Canaryville neighborhood of the South Side of Chicago, he spent all of his life there except for residing in Alsip from 1970 to 1995, where he served as an Alsip Park District commissioner; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Edward to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this fifteenth of January 2020, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Edward R. McLaughlin and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to the family of Edward R. McLaughlin.
