RESOLUTION FOR VANESSA VALENTIN
WHEREAS, Vanessa Valentin is well-respected for her decades-long commitment to overcoming inequities historically built into neighborhoods throughout the City of Chicago, especially, within the Belmont Cragin community; and,
WHEREAS, Vanessa Valentin serves many neighborhoods, including Belmont Cragin, as the Community Relations Director for the City of Chicago Alderman Gilbert Villegas 36th Ward; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago health officials prepared the "Covid-19 Community Vulnerability Index" using data that identified Belmont Cragin as one of the fifteen priority neighborhoods to start vaccinating throughout the City; and,
WHEREAS, Vanessa Valentin worked alongside partners at Oak Street Health, Northwest Side Housing Center, Metropolitan Family Services, Steinmetz, and the 36th Ward Office to serve the City of Chicago during the Covid-19 Pandemic, including the vaccine distribution; and,
WHEREAS, Vanessa Valentin led an unimaginable effort alongside the aforementioned collaborative partnership, leading to over 10,000 Chicagoans receiving the first dose of the vaccine - far exceeding the initial goal of 8,000 doses administered; and,
WHEREAS, the entire 36th Ward Team is grateful to work alongside such an inspiring leader as Vanessa Valentin; and, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here on 21st Day of April, 2021, do hereby honor Vanessa Valentin for her continued commitment to community service, including mitigating the spread of Covid-19 throughout the City of Chicago, and especially, the Belmont Cragin community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Vanessa Valentin as a token of our respect and of our best wishes for continued success.
