A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE PASTORAL RETIREMENT OF DR. NOAH W. REID, JR. & DR. CAROLYN WADDY REID FROM LANGLEY AVENUE CHURCH OF GOD

WHEREAS, in May of 1968, Dr. Noah W. Reid, Jr., and Dr. Carolyn Waddy Reid were called to serve as Pastor and Co-Pastor of Langley Avenue Church of God, a historic African American institution located at 6159 S. Langley in the 20th Ward that celebrated its 100th Anniversary in. 2010;and
WHEREAS, both Pastor and Co-Pastor Reid were nurtured in the Christian faith by their parents, Reverend Noah W. Reid, Sr. and Reverend Viola M. Reid, and Reverend Burton C. Cathie and Reverend Shirley B. Cathie, who were called to service in the Church of God Reformation Movement; and
WHEREAS, both Pastor and Co-Pastor Reid together have brought over 70 years of ministerial leadership and service to the Christian Church and wider community, with duties including Chairman of the General Assembly of the Church of God in Illinois, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the National Association of the Church of God, Board Member ofthe Community Renewal Society, and Co-Chairs of the Chicagoland Area Ministers Fellowship of the Church of God; and
WHEREAS, at Langley Avenue Chinch of God Pastor and Co-Pastor Reid have worked as a team with continual goals of sharing the Good News of the Gospel, leading in community management and community resource development and have greatly benefited their congregation, community, and the entire 20th Ward; and
WHEREAS, the Pastor and Co-Pastor Reid are retiring from Langley Avenue Church of God after more than two decades of faithful service, support, love and leadership appreciated by the entire congregation and community; and
WHEREAS, the Langley Avenue Church of God will celebrate the Pastoral Retirement of Dr. Noah W. Reid, Jr., and Dr. Carolyn Waddy Reid on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Ramada Chicago Hyde Park to celebrate and to wish them well as God leads them into a new...
