RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of fifty-nine; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Flossmoor, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks was a widely admired educator and the loving wife of the Honorable William H. Hooks; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks was the much-adored mother of Mariah and Ashley and the grandmother of two to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities' that she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks was the daughter of Grace and the late Cornelius Parrish; and
WHEREAS, A highly educated and brilliant individual who was known for her highly-honed listening skills, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks graduated from DePaul University and earned three post graduate degrees, including a doctorate; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks ably served for more than thirty years as a teacher, counselor, psychologist and administrator; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks most recently served as the Executive Director of South Holland-based ECHO, a special education cooperative serving seventeen school districts; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Dr. Debra Parrish-Hooks imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
