WHEREAS, Fred J. Kappel, Sr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God to his eternal reward at the age of 66; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson; and

WHEREAS, Fred J. Kappel Sr.; Beloved husband of 46 years to Doris (nee Taylor) Kappel. Devoted father of Fred Jr. C.P.D. (Stephanie) Kappel, Rebecca (Scott) Petrulis. Loving Grampa of Freddy III, Matthew, Andrew, and Danny Kappel. Cherished son of the late Fred and the late Sarah Kappel. Dear brother of Gary (Sandra) Kappel, Betty (Tom) Garner, Sue (Dennis) Bonakowski and the late Michael Kappel. Brother in law of Linda (John) Gorman, Sandra Sielaff, Ed (Debra) Taylor. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friend to all who knew him; and
WHEREAS, Fred J. Kappel, Sr. was a Gold Star Member of the FLAGS Club. Lifelong Canaryville resident; Member Union Local 143 - International Union of Operating Engineers; Retired 20 year employee of the Chicago Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, the kindness, empathy, humor, and hospitality of Fred J. Kappel Sr. enhanced the lives of all fortunate enough to know him; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Fred J. Kappel, Sr. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service, and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirty-first day of October 2018, hereby express our sorrow on the death of Fred J. Kappel, Sr. and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy be presented to the family of Fred J. Kappel, Sr.
