RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Tom Leahy has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 62; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Chicago, Tom Leahy was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving husband of Gaile; and
WHEREAS, Tom Leahy was the much-adored father of Taylor to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Highland Park, Tom Leahy graduated from the University of Notre Dame and Loyola University School of Law, Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Tom Leahy practiced for more than 35 years as a trial attorney specializing in personal injury cases; and
WHEREAS, In 2007 Tom Leahy was appointed to serve on the Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board of Governors; and
WHEREAS, Tom Leahy was a Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation and was recognized for his many pro bono contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, Since 2002 Tom Leahy was a partner in the Chicago law firm of Leahy & Hoste; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Tom Leahy serve as an example to all; and .
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Tom Leahy to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Tom Leahy was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Tom Leahy imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of September, 2014, do hereby commemorate Tom Leahy for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
