TRIBUTE TO LIFE OF TWO RESTAURANT WORKERS
WHEREAS, On Friday, November 26, 2010 at 11:05 p.m. two long-time employees at the Gale Street Inn in Jefferson Park were killed as a result of a traffic accident. The Cook County Examiner's Office identified them as restaurant Deborah Ceglarek and Javier Cisneros, both age 51; and
WHEREAS, The victims were driving east on Addison when a 22 year old man allegedly ran through the intersection at Pulaski and struck their vehicle. Javier Cisneros was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 11:40 p.m. and Deborah Ceglarek was pronounced dead at Illinois Masonic Hospital at 11:45 p.m. The 22 year old driver who remained hospitalized at Illinois Masonic Hospital as of November 29 has been charged with reckless driving, driving without a license, driving without insurance, disobeying a traffic signal and leaving the scene of an accident; and
WHEREAS, Deborah Ceglarek worked at the Gale Street Inn as a server for 30 years and Javier Cisneros worked as a cook for over 20 years. The owner said that these were the longest-tenured employees. They will be missed by all of their fellow employees and will always be known for their dedication to this restaurant. Gale Street Inn will be closed all day Tuesday, November 30th in memory of these two special people; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Patrick J. Levar, Alderman of the 45th Ward, has informed this august body of the passing of these two committed and extraordinary individuals; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled this 9lh day of February, 2011 A.D., do hereby express our sincere sorrow at the passing of these two decent citizens and extend our deepest condolences to the families and all those lives they touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Owner of the Gale Street Inn.
