City Council February 24th, 2021
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Kathleen M. Reed has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 79 to her eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen M. Reed, nee Mearna, beloved wife of the late Paul Reed; devoted mother of Paul (Elena) Reed, Sr., David (Joann) Reed, Colleen (late Steve) Chavez, Shelley (James) Rafferty, Larry Reed, and Brian (Kelly) Reed; loving grandmother of Paul Jr. and Sarah, William, David, Jr., Patrick, James, and Megan, Stephen and Anna, Crystal, Kathleen, and James, Christopher and Kora, Brian Jr., Heather, and Robert; great grandmother of 26; preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Florence Shaughnessy Mearna; dear sister of Robert Mearna, William Mearna, Michael Mearna, and preceded in death by Patrick Mearna, Jr., Patricia Rains, and Margaret Davis; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen was a lifetime resident of the South Side of Chicago-Canaryville neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Kathleen to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty fourth of February 2021, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Kathleen and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kathleen M. Reed.
