RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Reverend Francis X. Lawlor has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-five; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Francis X. Lawlor was a widely respected member of the religious community and a former Chicago Alderman; and
WHEREAS, A native of the Bronx, New York, the Reverend Francis X. Lawlor professed his vows in the Augustinian Order in 1938 and was ordained in 1945; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Francis X. Lawlor taught at St. Rita High School from 1946 to 1968; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Francis X. Lawlor was called the "crusader in a collar" and was active in both religious and civic affairs; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Francis X. Lawlor was a Delegate to the 1968 Illinois Constitutional Convention and ably served as the Alderman of the 15th Ward from 1971 to 1975; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Francis X. Lawlor was the Pro-Life Director of the Diocese of Rockford from 1976 to 1984 and spearheaded programs against pornography; and
WHEREAS, The holiness, faithfulness and dedication of the Reverend Francis X. Lawlor serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Francis X. Lawlor was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Reverend Francis X. Lawlor imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of November, 2013, do hereby commemorate the Reverend Francis X. Lawlor for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Reverend Francis X. Lawlor.
