ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Chapter 4-4 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting a new Section 4-4-339 as follows:
Cannabinoid retailer signage.
No licensee shall use the terms "dispensary" or "cannabis dispensary" in any display signage or engage in advertising that contains any statement that uses the terms "dispensary" or "cannabis dispensary" unless the licensee is a medical cannabis dispensing organization under the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act, 410 ILCS 130, or a licensed dispensing organization under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act, 410 ILCS 705.
No licensee shall display signage or engage in advertising that includes the image of a cannabis leaf or bud.
No licensee shall display signage or engage in advertising that includes the image of a green cross unless the licensee is a medical cannabis dispensing organization under the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act, 410 ILCS 130, a licensed dispensing organization under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act, 410 ILCS 705, or a licensed pharmacy under the Pharmacy Practice Act, 225 ILCS 85.
(d) "Advertise" means to engage in promotional activities including, but not limited to:
newspaper, radio, Internet and electronic media, and television advertising; the distribution of
fliers and circulars; billboard advertising; and the display of window and interior signs.
