RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Arturo G. Gomez is retiring.as Administrative AssistantTlI with the City of Chicago Department of Finance ("Finance".) after 30 years of dedicated and, distinguished service; and
WHEREAS,^ the Chicago City Council has been i nformed of his departure; from Finance by Alderman Edward M. Burke; arid
WHEREAS, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Art came to the United States of America when he was 16 years old and attended Kirkwood Community College, 1A, Cornell College, 1A and the: University of Iowa; and
WHEREAS, Art began his public service in 1991 holding various positions with the Office of the Mayor and the Department of Finance; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, Art helped make the Mayor V'Sharing It Anonymously" program a. success which provided food and clothing to victims of poverty; and
WHEREAS, In 1999, Art's efforts resulted in raising-over $62,000 that helped providcover 15,000 holiday meals for over 5,100 homebound elderly and persons with disabilities between Thanksgiving and the New Year; and
WHEREAS, Art remains active in his community, volunteering; with.various; charities arid organizations; and
WHEREAS, Art intends on spending more time with His wife, Anamaria and his son, Diego; now, therefore
JBE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this; twenty-third day of June,,2021, do hereby thank Arturo G. Gomez for his 30 years with the City of Chicago, and wish him the very best as he'begins the next phase of his life; and
