RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John J. Kennelly has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Palm Desert, California, John J. Kennelly was a widely respected member of the legal community and the beloved husband for sixty-two years of the late Mary; and
WHEREAS, John J. Kennelly was the much-adored father of Laura Schindler and Leah Laurie to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, John J. Kennelly was one of the nation's most prominent and highly accomplished aviation lawyers; and
WHEREAS, John J. Kennelly was the lead attorney in more than one-thousand aviation accident cases; and
WHEREAS, John J. Kennelly was a Past President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and a former member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, American College of Trial Lawyers, International Society of Barristers and World Association of Lawyers; and
WHEREAS, John J. Kennelly lived for many years in Oak Brook and was a member of Butterfield and Beverly country clubs; and
WHEREAS, John J. Kennelly was a man of great humility and a valued mentor to many young people interested in pursuing a career in the legal profession; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of John J. Kennelly serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John J. Kennelly imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2013, do hereby commemorate John J. Kennelly for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
