RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Thomas Hudson has announced his retirement as head of security for the Skinner West Elementary School in Chicago following 26 years of service with the Chicago Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, As a watchful and caring presence, Thomas Hudson has greeted students, parents and educators for years at the front door to the Near West Side school which is known as the home of the "Superstars"; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Hudson has striven above all else to keep Skinner School safe so that the high-achieving students of this classical, fine arts and technology school may learn in a nurturing environment; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining the security staff of Skinner School, Thomas Hudson ably served for 25 years with the Chicago Police Department where he exemplified the highest and most noble ideals of public service; and
WHEREAS, An eight-year veteran of the United States Navy and Air Force, Thomas Hudson is an individual dedicated to physical fitness who has enjoyed boxing, running marathons and participating in contact sports; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Hudson is looking forward to a retirement blessed by the love of his wife, six children and seven grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Hudson plans to fish, bike ride and travel, with his first destination being a visit to Niagara Falls; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas Hudson serve as an example to all; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby congratulate Thomas Hudson on his retirement from Skinner School and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued good health, happiness and prosperity; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Thomas Hudson.
