RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, William "Bill" O'Neill Burke is a beloved member of the Chicago Community; and
WHEREAS, Bill is the loving husband of Colleen and his two beautiful daughters Sarah and Elizabeth, the son of Margaret and John Thomas, brother to Tom, Kathy, Jack, Joe and Jim and friend to countless John Carroll University graduates; and
WHEREAS, Bill is a feared opponent on the rugby pitch; and
WHEREAS, Bill had a long and successful career in media sales in Chicago working for ESPN, ABC, Comcast, AT&T, The Tennis Channel and The Weather Channel; and
WHEREAS, After 35 years in media, Bill was not ready to retire and wanted to make a difference and challenge himself leading him to work with the Midwest Jesuits; and
WHEREAS, Bill was a natural fit for the Jesuits as "men and women for others" with his gift of bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome; and
WHEREAS, Bill has made everyone in his family, the companies he worked for, every organization he was a part of, and every friendship better by being a part of it; and
WHEREAS, Bill was the CEO of relationships, with a gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome, keeping lifelong friendships, while always reaching out to make new friends; and
WHEREAS, Bill has faced his battle with ALS as he lived his life prior to his diagnosis, keeping his faith while surrounding himself with family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Bill losing his ability to speak has not kept him from keeping up his relationships with friends, while always wanting to know how others are doing; and
WHEREAS, all who know him have witnessed his true strength and courage and his unwavering belief in his creator; and
WHEREAS, Bill is the loving father of two and favorite uncle and great uncle to 66 nieces and nephews including Olympic gold medalist Conor Dweyer, godfather to six and brother to five; now therefore
