Resolution
Whereas, the members of the City Council of Chicago wish to recognize the significant contributions of community members to the safety of our schools; and
Whereas, 12 year old honor roll student Tony Sandifer collected issues of bullying around his school and presented it to the principal at William C. Goudy Elementary School in an effort to stop bullying; and
Whereas, Tony Sandifer has been active in anti-bullying campaigns in Chicago schools for over five years; and
Whereas, Tony Sandifer has created his own anti-bullying campaign called S.T.A.Y with children from other local schools; and
Whereas, Tony Sandifer is setting an example for students around the city and working towards ending bullying by helping other children understand its effects; and
Whereas, Chicago Bears player Julius Peppers honored Tony Sandifer's efforts with an award; and
Whereas, the Honorable Harry Osterman has made us aware of this recognition; and
Whereas, Julius Peppers presented Tony Sandifer with the Julius Peppers and Lia Ames
Humanitarian Award for standing up to bullying and leading a campaign for change; now,
therefore
Be It Resolved, that we The Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this day of November 26, 2013, do hereby express our gratitude for Tony Sandifer's commitment to ending bullying and making our schools safer.
