MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Borghild "Betty" Schauf, on October 15, 2015, at the age of ninety-eight; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, This dear daughter of the late Karl and Olga Wold was born in Norway on June 17, 1917, before immigrating to the United States of America in 1942. For sixty-nine years, she was the beloved wife of the late Charles L. Schauf, Sr.; loving mother of the late Charles L. Schauf, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Christine (Jason) Small and Zachary C. Schauf; treasured aunt of Theresa (the late Rockey) Gable and Ralph (Anntoinette) Schauf; caring great aunt of Kim Gable, Shawn (Jessica) Gable, Adriane (Jason) and Ralph Gregory, Jr. (Jen); fond great-great aunt of many and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Betty leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Betty touched the lives of all who knew her through her energy, her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this eighteenth day of November, 2015 , do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Borghild "Betty" Schauf and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Borghild "Betty" Schauf as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
