O RDINANC E

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OP CHICAGO:

WHEREAS it is necessary to provide for increased safety at the intersection of South Aberdeen Street with Metra's Rock Island Line, which shall benefit both City of Chicago drivers and railroad commuters, therefore:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1:    That the Commissioner of Transportation is hereby authorized and directed to close to vehicular traffic that portion of South Aberdeen Street lying between the south and north right-of-way lines of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad, now known as Metra's Rock Island commuter rail line.

SECTION 2:    This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication.
