RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable John J. Stamos has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Northbrook, gThe Honorable John J. Stamos was a retired Illinois Supreme Court Justice and the devoted husband of Mary and the late Helen; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John J. Stamos was the much-adored father of James, Theo, Colleen and Jana to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The son of Greek immigrants, the Honorable John J. Stamos grew up in the South Chicago neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John J. Stamos' father and four uncles settled near 92nd and Commercial where they operated bakeries, restaurants and hotels; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John J. Stamos served as a Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court from 1968 to 1988 and as an Illinois Supreme Court Justice from 1988 to 1990; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure on the bench, the Honorable John J. Stamos earned a reputation for integrity and legal wisdom; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable John J. Stamos serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable John J. Stamos to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable John J. Stamos imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Honorable John J. Stamos for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Xxx.
