RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Michael Ficaro has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 70; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ficaro was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving and devoted husband of Nancy, nee Mooney; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ficaro was the much-adored father of Gina, Michael and Andrea and the grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ficaro was the dear brother of Kathy; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ficaro was a Partner in the Chicago law firm of Nixon Peabody where he enjoyed a reputation as a preeminent litigator of more than 100 jury trials, 1,000 bench trials and 300 grand jury investigations; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ficaro represented clients in commercial, criminal, tort and class action cases and was a recognized expert in gaming law; and
WHEREAS, Earlier in his career Michael Ficaro served as First Assistant Attorney General of Illinois, Cook County Deputy State's Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and Director of Enforcement for the Illinois Attorney General's Office; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ficaro earned his undergraduate and law degrees from DePaul University; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Michael Ficaro serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Michael Ficaro to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Michael Ficaro imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
