RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Following 32 years of publication, Today's Chicago Woman published its final issue in January of 2015; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Founded by operated by Sherren Leigh, the Chicago-based magazine was dedicated to Chicago's professional women and enjoyed a circulation of 47,904; and
 
WHEREAS, Today's Chicago Woman was distributed through news boxes and made available at apartment and condominium high-rises, train stations and at various locations throughout Chicago and the suburbs; and
 
WHEREAS, By closing the publication, Sherren Leigh said she will now be afforded the opportunity to embrace new activities and move on to a different chapter in her life; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Sherren Leigh serve as an example to all; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby congratulate Sherren Leigh on her retirement and declare that November 19, 2015 shall be officially recognized as Sherren Leigh Day throughout the City of Chicago; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sherren Leigh.
