ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 5-8-035 REGARDING RENTER OBLIGATIONS WHILE RETALIATION CLAIM IS PENDING

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. The Municipal Code ofthe City of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting Section 5-8-035. by adding the language underscored, as follows:

Section 5-8-035 Rental Agreement Obligation.

During a pending retaliation claim by a tenant, the tenant is still required to pay rent to the landlord and responsible for all obligations pursuant to the lease.

SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance is effective upon passage and publication.
