RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 83; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen devoted his life to public service and was the loving husband of Kathi; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen was the father of five children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School and was elected to the Ramsey County Board in 1970; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen served as the Mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota from 1972 to 1976; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure as Mayor, the Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen implemented an affirmative action program and focused on inclusion in government before it became a progressive cause; and

WHEREAS, Beginning in 1988, the Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen served for 14 years as a Ramsey County District Court Judge; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Lawrence D. "Larry" Cohen imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
