RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Winthrop Robinson has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 77; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Northbrook, the Honorable John Winthrop Robinson was a widely admired civic leader and the loving husband for 45 years of Nancy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Winthrop Robinson was the much-adored father of John, Jr., Christy and Caroline and the grandfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Winthrop Robinson was the dear brother of Caroline; and
WHEREAS, Known for his thoughtfulness and quiet demeanor, the Honorable John Winthrop Robinson enjoyed a 35-year career at Motorola and served on two suburban school boards; and
WHEREAS, Born in Evanston and raised in Kenilworth, the Honorable John Winthrop Robinson graduated from New Trier High School and Northwestern University; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Winthrop Robinson joined Motorola in 1951 and by the 1980s was named to oversee external relations which trained the company's employees; and
WHEREAS, While working at Motorola, the Honorable John Winthrop Robinson earned a master's degree in public policy from DePaul University; and
WHEREAS, In the mid-1970s, the Honorable John Winthrop Robinson purchased WCSJ-AM, a small radio station in Morris, Illinois, which he operated over the next decade; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable John Winthrop Robinson serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable John Winthrop Robinson to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
