RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Honorable William R. Quinlan has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-three; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Wilmette, the Honorable William R. Quinlan was a prominent member of the legal community and the loving husband of Colleen, nee Stanton, and the late Jane, nee Phelan; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William R. Quinlan was the much-adored father of William J., Erin, Kathleen. Colleen, Kevin, Matthew and the late Patrick, and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, The son of a Cook County Family Court Clerk who was a longtime Precinct Captain for the Democratic Party, the Honorable William R. Quinlan attended Mount Carmel High School and served in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William R. Quinlan earned his accounting and law degrees from Loyola University in Chicago and his LLM from the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Widely admired for his legal acumen and professionalism, the Honorable William R. Quinlan enjoyed a remarkable career that spanned forty-five years; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William R. Quinlan served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago, Cook County Circuit Court Judge, Illinois Appellate Court Judge, Parliamentarian for the Cook County Board and a commercial litigation lawyer in private practice; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable William R. Quinlan was a leading member of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago, the Celtic Legal Society of Chicago and the Catholic Lawyer Guild; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable William R. Quinlan serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable William R. Quinlan will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
