A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF HAROLD WILLIAMS

 

 

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the passing of Harold Williams on May 15, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Harold Williams was a dedicated Army veteran, family member, friend, confidante and entrepreneur in the Oakwood Boulevard community; and

WHEREAS, Harold was a well-respected figure in the community, living there for nearly 20 years. He was a pioneer for market-rate housing development within the Bronzeville neighborhood, best known for creating the successful South Park Place housing complex; and

WHEREAS, Harold was passionate about Chicago and worked diligently to build and promote quality housing on Chicago's South Side. As a Licensed Real Estate Broker, Certified Property Manager and Certified Housing Manager, he was empowered to own and manage a successful full-service real estate and property management company for well over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Harold Williams was an inspiration for aspiring minority real estate developers and general contractors. A pillar to the community, Harold served as a Consultant for The Woodlawn Organization where he researched and assembled land for new housing construction in Woodlawn; and

WHEREAS, Harold's hard work and dedication to his career and community did not go unrecognized as he received several awards for his success in real estate, such as: the Golden Eagle Award, The Top Commercial Dollars Award and the Volume Producer Award; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here in assembly this 23rd Day of May, 2018 A.D., do hereby extend our condolences to the family of Harold Williams; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Harold Williams.
