RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Kenneth Albert Smikle has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 66; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Albert Smikle was widely admired publisher and entrepreneur and the loving husband of retired NBC investigative reporter Renee Ferguson; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Albert Smikle was the much-adored father of Jason to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Albert Smikle was a respected journalist and the founder of Target Market News which he headed for thirty years; and
WHEREAS, As the editor and publisher of Target Market News, Kenneth Albert Smikle was considered a leading authority on marketing, advertising and media directed to the African-American market; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Albert Smikle appeared on CNN, ABC's World News Tonight, PBS, NPR and other programs; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Albert Smikle was frequently quoted by the New York Times, Newsweek, Time and The Wall Street Journal; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Kenneth Albert Smikle serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Kenneth Albert Smikle to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, A resident of the Kenwood neighborhood, Kenneth Albert Smikle was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Kenneth Albert Smikle imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
