RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders is hosting it's annual "Anti-Violence and Substance Abuse Prevention - Community Day," a collaborative event with the West Garfield Park Youth Council and other Westside Community Stakeholders and Partners, at the Allison Foundation for Better Living on October 3rd, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Jason Ervin, Alderman ofthe 28th Ward, has informed the City Council of Chicago about this important event; and
WHEREAS, the mission of "Anti-Violence and Substance Abuse Prevention Day" is to engage, empower and enlighten local residents on ways to "Promote a Safe and Drug-Free Community, while Bridging the Intergenerational Gaps to Reduce Underage Drinking, Substance Abuse and Senseless Violence" and
WHEREAS, people of prayer, hope, faith, commitment and leadership are working together to support the mission of "Community Day" and bring sustainable, positive change to West Garfield Park; and
WHEREAS, the causes of anti-violence and substance abuse prevention are vital to the health and prosperity of West Garfield Park; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this 5th day of October, 2016, do hereby salute the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders on the occasion of "Community Day"; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the West Garfield Park Community Stakeholders.
