MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Carolyn J. "Lynn" Degen, nee Zeier, at the age of seventy-eight; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on November 11, 1936, Lynn was the beloved wife of the late John C. "Jack"; loving mother of Teresa (Keith) Lucas, Sharon (Ken) Wente and Gerald; dearest grandmother of Jaclynn, Alysa, Danny and Michael; dear sister of Robert (Darlene) Zeier and the late Shirley (Dale) McCollum; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews; and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Lynn leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of her community, Lynn participated in numerous social clubs, was a member of the Mayfair Civic Association and was also a judge of election for many years; and
 
WHEREAS, Lynn touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this seventeenth day of June 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Carolyn J. "Lynn" Degen and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
