RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Mary Cameron Frey has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Mary Cameron Frey was a longtime society columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and the loving wife of the late Bell & Howell Chairman and President Donald Fry; and
WHEREAS, Mary Cameron Frey was the much-adored mother of Bill Cameron and the grandmother of two to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Mary Cameron Frey lived for decades on the Gold Coast and moved in high society and philanthropic circles which she chronicled through her work at the Chicago Sun-Times and later at Crain's Chicago Business; and
WHEREAS, Born in Garden City, New York, Mary Cameron Frey learned high-speed typing and worked in executive suites before moving to Chicago in 1971; and
WHEREAS, Known for her sharp wit, Mary Cameron Frey always arrived with a photographer in tow to provide readers with an inside glimpse into the lives of movers and shakers in the Chicagoland area; and
WHEREAS, Mary Cameron Frey held an annual holiday party at her home and took pride in introducing and connecting people from different backgrounds, including those from the worlds of entertainment and politics; and
WHEREAS, A woman of dignity, grace and charm, Mary Cameron Frey will long be remembered by her former colleagues, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, Following her long and illustrious career, Mary Cameron Fry retired in 2010; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Mary Cameron Frey serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Mary Cameron Frey to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
