RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Edward Keith Uhlir has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 73; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Edward Keith Uhlir was a former public servant and the loving husband for 48 years of Bonnie; and

WHEREAS, Edward Keith Uhlir was the much-adored father of Lydia and Laura to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Edward Keith Uhlir was the dear brother of Gail; and

WHEREAS, Edward Keith Uhlir served for 25 years with the Chicago Park District where he was Chief Architect and later the Director of Research and Planning; and

WHEREAS, An advocate for open space and parks, Edward Keith Uhlir was best known as the design director and master planner of Millennium Park; and

WHEREAS, Edward Keith Uhlir was the Executive Director of the Millennium Park Foundation; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Edward Keith Uhlir serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Edward Keith Uhlir to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Edward Keith Uhlir imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of December, 2017, do hereby commemorate Edward Keith Uhlir for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Keith Uhlir.
