Memorial Resolution
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Michael Grochowiak on December 28th, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, a devoted father and loving husband, he was the pillar of kindness and a strong patriarch to his family, committed to being an involved father. His friends and family knew he could be listening ear and offer words of compassion during difficult times, but many also looked to him for frank and honest advice; and
WHEREAS, a familiar face around City Hall, Grochowiak lent his professional talents and guidance to his coworkers and staff at the Department of Zoning and Land Use Planning from 1997 until 2010; and
WHEREAS, he passed peacefully and comfortably in his home, surrounded by his family, cherishing the memories of a full and vibrant life of love; and
WHEREAS, Michael Grochowiak will be deeply missed, but the memory of his integrity, quick wit, and genuine kindness will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifth day of March, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Michael Grochowiak and extend to his family and friends out deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Grochowiak.
