RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Barbara Pq.ppyic has announced her retirement as Executive Director of CAN TV in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M.,'Burke; and

WHEREAS, During her long and highly esteemed tenure, Barbara Popovic headed the independent nonprofit which was first established by the City of Chicago in 19,83 p and
WHEREAS, CAN TV operates five local channels which reflect the diversity of people and }ideas in Chicago, including voices that are often excluded from the mainstream media; and
WHEREAS, CAN TV operates by the motto that a "city where neighbors can freely share their passions and talents with one another is a city that works better"; and
WHEREAS, As she departs^ this position, Barbara Popovic leaves behind a legacy of leadership that has great enhanced the lives of countless viewers who haye benefited from the myriad of programs that CAN TV has to offer; and
WHEREAS, The vision , of Barbara Popovic has indeed helped to define the remarkable contributions that CAN TV has made to broadcasting in the City of Chicago; ,and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice- and dedication of Barbara Popovic serve as an example to all; how, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That .we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fourteenth day of December, 2016, do hereby congratulate Barbara Popovic on her exemplary tenure as Executive Director of CAN TV and do hereby extend our warmest wished for her continued good health, happiness and prosperity; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Barbara Pjonovic.
