MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Margaret E. "Peggy" Edsey (nee Brandt) on January 1, 2015 at the age of eighty-eight; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Margaret E. Edsey was born on July 27th, 1926, in Chicago to loving parents Otto and Emily Brandt. Peggy, as she was known to all who knew her, met and married the love of her life the late Stanley F. Edsey; she was the doting mother of Steve (Caren), Cathy (Kevin) Collins, Mary Edsey, Chris (Vaughn) Armstrong, Don Edsey, Tom (Lynda), Mike (Pam) and David (Tracey) Edsey; caring grandmother of 18 and great grandmother of 12; dear sister to Donald Brandt; fond aunt of two nephews and one niece; and
WHEREAS, After the death of her beloved Stan in 1973, Peggy became the Community Program Developer for Catholic Charities. Several years later, she was the Volunteer Coordinator at the Southwest Suburban Council on Aging in LaGrange. She enjoyed working with seniors and took pride in improving the quality of their lives; and
WHEREAS, Peggy loved to travel and after her retirement she explored Ireland, Germany and traveled throughout the United States. She and her friends enjoyed Elderhostels in many different states and Peggy loved traveling with her daughters throughout the Midwest, especially to Branson, Missouri. She also loved visiting her daughter Chris and her family in Los Angeles; and
WHEREAS, Peggy enjoyed life to the fullest, never allowing age to slow her down, she continued to do tap dancing and yoga. She loved to swim and take walks. Peggy enjoyed old movies, musical theater, and sharing a laugh by telling jokes. She relished meeting family and friends for coffee and a meal at her favorite restaurants; and
WHEREAS, Among Peggy's' many talents was the gift of art and enjoyed painting but what brought her most pleasure was singin...
