RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The executive director of the Six Corners Association - who helped bring new life to the shopping district - has stepped down to pursue a career in journalism; and
WHEREAS, Ed Bannon helped set up Six Corners' 10-year-old Special Service Area and shepherded its 15-year renewal by area businesses in 2014; and
WHEREAS, Under his leadership, many businesses at Six Corners have renovated and reinvested in their storefronts through Small Business Improvement Fund grants; and
WHEREAS, A hard worker, dedicated to the community, Ed has an unassuming demeanor and rarely took credit for his part in helping to make over twenty new businesses a success in the area; and
WHEREAS, Ed's compassion for others in the Six Corners community knows no bounds. He served the homeless in the area by offering many of them shelter in the chamber office to warm up and he routinely paid out of his pocket to ensure that a local homeless woman could stay at the Irving Hotel; and
WHEREAS, Ed's selfless commitment to the Six Corners Association and to the community should serve as an inspiration to us all; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable John Arena, Alderman of the 45th Ward, has apprised this august body of Ed's departure from the chamber; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, gathered here this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby honor Ed Bannon for his commitment to the Six Corners Association and extend our very best wishes for his continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Ed Bannon.
