RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Donald "Buddy" Romano has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of the Gold Coast, Donald "Buddy" Romano was the loving husband for 61 years of Florence, nee Taglia; and

WHEREAS, The much-adored patriarch of his family, Donald "Buddy" Romano was the much-adored father of seven children, the grandfather of 32 and the great-grandfather of 12 to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Raised in Oak Park, Donald "Buddy" Romano graduated from Fenwick High School and the University of Notre Dame; and

WHEREAS, Donald "Buddy" Romano and his wife raised their children in River Forest where they lived for 35 years before moving to Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Along with his late brother, Michael, Donald "Buddy" Romano operated the Romano Brothers Beverage Company which became one of the largest liquor distribution companies in the nation; and

WHEREAS, Donald "Buddy" Romano's company played a major role in introducing E&J Gallo wines to the Chicago area market; and

WHEREAS, Donald "Buddy" Romano proudly served as a Life Trustee of Fenwick High School and was a Past President of the Notre Dame Club of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Donald "Buddy" Romano serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Donald "Buddy" Romano to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Donald "Buddy" Romano imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this nineteenth day of April, 2017, do hereby commemorate Donald "Buddy" Romano for his grace-fille...
