MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Margaret Mary "Peg" Farrell, on .luly 27, 2015, at the age of ninety-four; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, This devoted daughter of the late Anna and Michael Sullivan was born on February 2, 1921. Peg was the loving wife of the late James; beloved mother of the late James, Judith (Fred Burton), Retired CPD Jerry (Mary Cavanaugh), Joanne, Peggy (Dave Baird) and Margaret Mary (infant deceased at birth); proud grandmother of Brian (Cheri Cronin), Sherry (Rich Simmons), Jacquie (Brandon Foley), Danny Howe; cherished great-grandmother of Katie, Jimmie, Ryan, Brandon, and Jackson; dearest sister of the late Marie (the late Earl Bishop) and the late Tessie (the late Steve Corcoran) and Michael (Marilyn Kelly) Sullivan; dear sister-in-law of the late Edward (the late Mildred) Farrell and the late Thomas (the late Celeste) Farrell; proud aunt of many nieces and nephews; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Peg leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, An active and vital member of her community, Peg was twenty year minister to Homebound, Sacristan, Den Mother, Brownie Leader and W.I.T.S. Reading Program; and

WHEREAS, Peg will be remembered for her smiling face, her wonderful sense of humor, her thoughtfulness and grace within her that could light up any room that she walked into; and

WHEREAS, Peg touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-fourth day of September, 2015 , do hereby express our sorrow...
