RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Reverend Thomas Mulcrone officially observed his Twenty-Fifth Anniversary as Chaplain of the Chicago Fire Department on November 2, 2012; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of diis milestone by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and *
WHEREAS, Born in the Austin community, the Reverend Thomas Mulcrone is the son of a Chicago police officer who grew up on the West Side just two blocks from a firehouse; and
WHEREAS, A priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago since 1977, the Reverend Thomas Mulcrone was raised with both a deep faith and a deep respect for the bravery and character of firefighters; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Thomas Mulcrone was first named Assistant Chaplain of the Chicago Fire Department in 1981 and became Chaplain in 1987; and
WFIEREAS, The Reverend Thomas Mulcrone is one of the three clerics, including a Protestant minister and a rabbi, who minister to 5,000 firefighters and their families; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Thomas Mulcrone is often the first person available to comfort grieving family members when tragedy strikes; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Thomas Mulcrone presides at wakes, funerals, weddings and baptisms, while responding regularly to fires and major disasters; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Thomas Mulcrone has ably served on local, national and international fire fighter boards and associations; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Thomas Mulcrone is also the Chaplain at St. Mary of Providence Home in Chicago, a residential facility and day training center for more titan 150 mentally challenged and developmentally disabled young people; and
WHEREAS, The compassion, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend Thomas Mulcrone serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2012, do hereby congratulate the Reverend Thomas Mulcrone on his Twenty-Fifth Anniversary as Chaplain of the Chicago Fire Department an...
