RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ron "Chico" Maki has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 76; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A native of Canada, Ron "Chico" Maki was a legendary member ofthe Chicago Blackhawks 1961 championship, team which won the Stanley Cup; and
WHEREAS, Ron "Chico" Maki was the much-adored father of Michael, Stephen and James and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Ron "Chico" Maki was the dear brother of the late Donny, Kenny, Wayne and Philip; and
WHEREAS, Ron "Chico" Maki played his entire National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Chicago Blackhawks, spanning 15 seasons from 1960 to 1976; and
WHEREAS, Ron "Chico" Maki played three times on the league's All-Star Team; and
WHEREAS, Ron "Chico" Maki was credited with 143 goals and 292 assists during 841 regular-season games and 17 goals and 53 points in 113 playoff games; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, athletic ability and dedication of Ron "Chico" Maki serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Ron "Chico" Maki to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Ron "Chico" Maki was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Ron "Chico" Maki imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby commemorate Ron "Chico" Maki for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
