RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Andrea L. Zopp, the City of Chicago's Deputy Mayor and Chief Neighborhood Development Officer, has announced she will step down to from her posts to assume the new responsibility of Chief Executive Officer of World Business Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, World Chicago promotes Chicago as a world-class City while focusing on driving citywide economic growth and job creation; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rahm Emanuel appointed Andrea L. Zopp in May of 2016 as Deputy Mayor and Chief Neighborhood Development Officer; and
WHEREAS, During her esteemed tenure, Andrea L. Zopp played an influential role in launching successful economic growth programs such as the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund and the Retail Thrive Zone program; and
WHEREAS, Andrea L. Zopp also worked on public safety reform and strengmening relations between the Chicago Police Department and the community; and
WHEREAS, Andrea L. Zopp previously served in a variety of high-profile positions, including as an executive for Exelon and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Urban League; and
WHEREAS, Andrea L. Zopp additionally worked during her career as a prosecutor, both as an Assistant United States Attorney and was also the first woman and African American to serve as the First Assistant in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Andrea L. Zopp, serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of November, 2017, do hereby congratulate Andrea L. Zopp, in her new position as Chief Executive Officer of World Business Chicago and do hereby express our gratitude for her vigorous role in promoting the economic growth of Chicago neighborhoods; and
